How wonderful to see Linvoy Primus made a Member of the Order of the British Empire in the New Year’s Honours List.

Most people will know him as Pompey’s ex-defender, who retired in 2010 but remained part of the club as an ambassador while also concentrating on his charity Faith in Football.

It was a sad day when Linvoy was made redundant from Pompey, yet another casualty of two successive administrations.

But he has since built up the charity he founded with Darren Moore into an organisation that promotes exercise and learning in schools.

He hung up his boots with dignity at a time when other players, such as Tal Ben Haim, almost forced the club into liquidation over their wages.
