Jessie J will perform a one-off show at London’s HMV record store on Oxford Street today to kick off Music Is Great Week, which celebrates the success of British artists playing live across the globe.

I love the idea of acts playing gigs in record shops. It’ll be nice to hear music in a shop without it being interrupted every 20 seconds by a tannoy announcement asking for some assistance at the tills.

Plus musicians in record shops would make really good store detectives. They absolutely hate people copying their music for nothing, so they’d be really good at checking on potential shoplifters.

It’s also good experience. Once their careers are over, selling records is all they’re really qualified to do. So, being in the shop will be good preparation for them.

* Adele escapes attention from fans by venturing out in public in her pyjamas. She said: ‘I’ve managed to stay out of the public eye recently. The other day I walked through (London’s) Trafalgar Square. I was in my pyjamas. Luckily I had a massive umbrella so no one recognised me. I don’t want to be in people’s faces. I just want to make music.’

Whitney Houston’s teenage daughter Bobbi Kristina and notoriously private mother Cissy are set to star in a new US family reality show, The Houston Family Chronicles. That is set to be an interesting watch, to say the least!

Rapper Jay Z and his wife Beyoncé Knowles have announced plans to move to London in the near future. They have decided to rent a swanky five-bedroom gaff in the capital because they are apparently tired of pouring money down the drain on posh hotels in the city they so often visit. I know the feeling…NOT!
