Within 24 hours of the earthquake and tsunami disaster in Japan, the first ‘joke’ had arrived by text on my mobile phone.
These things really are the cesspit of ‘humour’ and I’ve long wondered who could be bothered to make them up.
Then a friend came up with a possible solution which sounds so feasible it’s a wonder I hadn’t heard it posited before.
He reckons the mobile phone companies themselves employ people to come up with these ‘gags’ on the sound basis that some people cannot wait to pass them on.
The more texts – the more cash. Simples.
