Learning rude words means I’ll know when I’m abused

VERITY LUSH: Yet another example of distasteful American influence sweeping the UK

Have your say

My quest to learn French is going rather slowly. I want to learn a new language, and because I hate flying, France gets quite a few visits from me. So it makes sense to learn the language.

My friend Louis is from Nantes and I tried out some of my French phrases on him over the weekend.

I think he was impressed that I could say more than ‘bonnet de douche’ and ‘mange toute Rodney’ to him.

All this masculine and feminine stuff is really confusing, so after a couple of beers we did what most men would do in this situation. Learn rude words!

I remain determined to learn proper French. But in the meantime at least I’ll know when I’m being mocked or abused.
