It’s started already and I for one can’t wait.

A quick trip to my local Co-op recently revealed that mince pies and other Christmas goodies have already gone on sale.

Stashed on an end aisle – not too far from the Halloween-themed sweets – were the tell-tale signs that Christmas has once again come early.

As a nipper I don’t remember ever eating a mince pie before the second week of December. As an adult, I can choose to buy these blessed offerings right through the autumn.

There’s nothing like a bit of shortcrust pastry stuffed with fruity goodness to put a smile on my face, especially if it comes with cream.

We could complain about it only being September but I suggest we stuff our faces and feel glad to be alive.
