Life without trashy TV and mobile phones was liberating

Have your say

We’re all surrounded by technology these days and think that being deprived of it would be like having a limb cut off.

But we recently had a break staying in a yurt (posh tent) run by an eco holiday company on the Isle of Wight – and part of the deal of going back to nature was no electricity.

So that meant no television, no radio, no mobile phones for us or Nintendo DS for son number one (once the charge had run down because there were no plugs anywhere).

How on earth would we manage? Well, as it turns out, quite well really.

Returning home, I realised I hadn’t missed all that trashy TV in the slightest. And being incommunicado with expired phones was actually quite liberating.

I recommend you try it.
