Talking of Facebook, it’s been announced that it will be floated on the Stock Exchange, with an expected value that could reach the dizzying heights of hundreds of billions.

Clearly a lot of people are going to make a lot of money. But how does Facebook make money?

As the saying goes: ‘If you’re not paying for it, you’re not the customer, you’re the product.’

But will ‘we’ the ‘product’ keep going back for more when we start getting bombarded with more and more advertising every time we log on to the site?

Of course we will! There’s nothing better than cringeing at those drunken photos of yourself, wishing you hadn’t pulled that stupid face and then quickly de-tagging them before anyone sees.
