Oh, the shame – my pink hot pants are still in the wardrobe

VERITY LUSH: Yet another example of distasteful American influence sweeping the UK

Have your say

It’s often a lack of confidence that leads us to buy clothes we regret. Been there, done that and got the dodgy T-shirt.

Many of us hang our heads in shame at the memory of some of the outfits we wore in our youth.

Recent research has now shown we are only comfortable with our personal style when we reach 33 and I would tend to agree with that.

My wardrobe hasn’t really changed much in the past 15 years.

However, lurking at the back of my closet still lie my fashion faux pas – the fluorescent shellsuit, the Dallas-style shoulder pads and, yes, pink hot pants, not to mention a maid’s outfit (don’t even go there).

At least one day they might come in handy as fancy dress costumes.
