I’ve never been a particular fan of Chris Patten. He’s always busied himself with a little too much nest-feathering for my liking.
However, if his bite is as good as his bark, he could be just the person we need as the next chairman of the BBC Trust.
While giving evidence to the Culture, Media and Sport committee, he quoted Jonathan Ross’s obscene £6m a year salary as an example of where the corporation had lost its way.
In doing so, he hit the nail right on the head. Give the man a hammer and let him get to work.
