It was the premiere screening of Faces last weekend, an hour-long projection featuring local community members (such as myself) talking about and responding to the First World War.

What a stunning setting in which to view it – a pop-up screen in the dockyard, sitting next to HMS Victory. How cool is that?

All guests brought their own chairs, some brought their own wine (oh how I glanced and then stared with envy while supping my cup of tea) and others even brought picnics.

It was a truly civilised evening.

The film is being shown at various venues as part of Portsmouth Festivities.
