Ramadan shows us religions aren’t really that different

Children adore being spoilt by their grandparents, but is it too much?

I’ve really enjoyed watching the Channel 4 programmes on Ramadan, and the challenges fasting throughout the hours of daylight can present to Muslims observing it.

Not only are they not allowed to eat, but Islam also says drinking is also not allowed which, in this weather, must be even more of a challenge.

I liked the community aspect of it to – taking food to neighbours to share, having the whole family over after sunset for a communal meal.

Behaving charitably, supporting your community, embracing family, serving your God... and even denying human needs in order to be better in touch with your spirituality – religions aren’t really all that different, are they?

Ramadan mubarak (happy Ramadan) everyone.
