Reward may help me to train for the Great North Run

ZELLA COMPTON: Men need new lessons in treating women with respect

Have your say

I’ve decided that time and tide wait for no woman, least of all me, so I’m back outside and pounding the pavements.

I’m getting ready for the Great North Run in September – which at 13.1 miles will be my longest running challenge to date.

I’ve lost my running mojo a bit recently. As I hit the two- mile mark, I just give up. Being asthmatic and running in the cold weather doesn’t help but, rather than ignore the little voice that says I need to stop and breathe, I’ve been giving in.

Help is at hand, however, as a good friend of mine, who goes by the nom de plume of The Race Bunny, says she has a reward for me if I keep training hard for three weeks.

Who am I to argue with someone who wants to give me a present?
