Have your say

What is the big problem with same-sex marriage? Despite opposition from figures such as Archbishop of York Dr John Sentamu, I can’t think of one decent argument.

What I can think of are many good reasons for same-sex couples to have the right to marriage rather than just a civil partnership.

Marriage isn’t about colour or creed, so why should it be about genitalia? Marriage is about two people who love each other and want to dedicate their lives to one another. Nothing more, nothing less.

If our hearts aren’t big enough to accept this simple fact, we have a long way to come as human, and indeed humane, beings.

This is 2012 and we’re still arguing about it. But surely we must accept love as it is, no matter who it is between.
