My son came home from school and told me that in his computing lesson (which probably has some three-letter abbreviation and a technical title, but means computers to me), they studied Facebook.

The teacher had been online and accessed details of a couple of his pupils, including pics, plucking them from Facebook and showing them to the class, just like anyone can do on the internet.

The rest of the lesson was spent by students logging on to Facebook and adjusting security settings so that the same couldn’t happen again, whether by a predator or a potential employer.

With so much of our lives now lived online, it was a powerful reminder of just how vulnerable we are if we don’t give enough thought to security.
