So why aren’t the ‘serious’ cyclists using the new path?

The drivers' dispute might be over, but at what cost?

CLIVE SMITH: The dressing-up corner is now no longer safe from the PC brigade

Have your say

It’s great news for the cyclists of Gosport and beyond that there is now a cycle path that runs along Stokes Bay.

It’s not been put along the promenade, as I guess wending its way amongst the pushchairs and seniors taking a stroll would have caused a bit too much difficulty,

But it’s definitely there, with a nice fresh surface, and should cut down a lot of issues when herding children on bikes.

But here’s a question as a car driver. Why aren’t the ‘serious’ cyclists using it?

You know the ones I’m talking about, the Lycra-clad racing bike crew?

The whole point of having a cycle path is to keep cyclists safe, so surely the best way of doing that would be to use the darn thing?
