As our neighbours had to put up a new fence after last week’s gales, I’ve sadly accepted summer is over and put the cover on the barbecue for the last time.
But autumn is a season I actually look forward to as well. The nights drawing in, cosy evenings in front of the fire, great TV to look forward to as Downton Abbey returns and X-Factor heating up.
Then there are those blustery weekend walks with beautiful reds and browns as leaves fall, plus stunning early sunsets.
Soon it will be Halloween, then Bonfire Night, Christmas light switch-ons and then the big day itself.
So don’t be glum about the end of summer – that happened this year in early May.
