Have your say

At certain moments in our lives it seems as if everything is thrown at us at once.

Regardless of your age, the ability you may have or the things you may do, there will always be a moment when everything seems a little more difficult than usual.

These past couple of weeks have been extremely challenging with regards to coursework deadlines, the passing of a relative and friend, demand at work and various other responsibilities.

With a full list of things to do, it’s almost exasperating. For some, their way to deal with a difficult and challenging moment is to bury their head in the sand and to forget about everything.

Young people are especially susceptible to doing this as it may be our first experience of everything stacking up.

Believe me, it is easy to throw all tasks to one side and just lounge around, forgetting about what needs to be done.

But in life, positivity is key in everything we do.

You may be asking me: how is it possible to remain positive through challenging moments?

Easy… everything we do is reflected in the attitudes we have. If we approach a task with a negative attitude, the outcome is likely to be negative.

If we approach a task with a neutral attitude, the overall result may not be very pleasing.

But, if we approach the things we need to do with a positive attitude, the conclusion is likely to be more positive.

Our minds are very important. If you’re someone that may find it challenging to approach areas positively, think of something you may enjoy and think about that to support you through challenging moments.

We all have to deal with things that we may not entirely enjoy, but that’s the way life is.

It’s important that we complete and plough through the unexciting times for a great outcome.

I’ve seen friends cave in and give up under pressure.

Young people of Portsmouth, let’s prove that we can be the best youngsters around and achieve.

Be positive, ready for a challenge, prepared to learn and confident that we will eventually succeed.
