Telly, movies and YouTube all have an influence on names

The Office for National Statistics has released the list of the most popular baby names.

It seems what’s on telly/at the movies affects what we call our children, plus what’s on YouTube has its influences with the name Fenton rising up the ranks (remember the dog that went chasing after deer in Richmond Park?)

Some are book-inspired.Most popular names for girls are Amelia, Olivia and Lily, and for boys it’s Harry, Oliver and Jack. Anyone spot the Potter associations?

Interestingly, one of the highest climbers in the past 10 years is Bella (up a whopping 641 places to 69) – perhaps from Twilight?

Jacob is in at number seven (up 21), while Edward languishes at number 40 (up 4), which seems about right to me.
