There’s a saying that goes ‘if it’s too good to be true, it probably is’ and another that says ‘don’t look a gift horse in the mouth.’
So when an excited friend phoned me last week to say he had been on a betting website and reckoned he’d found a glitch in the system, my ears pricked up.
And after I’d checked the said ‘glitch’, I didn’t give that gift-horse’s mouth a second glance.
At odds of 44-1 and a dead cert, who would?
With my first bet I was thinking a new car, with my second a speedboat.
Before my third, I thought that I’d better check the ‘rules’ section of the bet.
Suffice to say that the kids have been sharing Dairylea Dunkers for dinner ever since.
Ah well, can’t win’ em all.
