Have your say

We’re already nearly a week into the summer holidays and there is still a long stretch ahead for parents to try to keep their children entertained through the, hopefully, warm days.

With two young children, summer can be expensive, but most of the time it really doesn’t have to be, especially as we live on a stretch of the south coast that caters well for families and children.

Luckily, in Portsmouth, you are never far away from a park. My daughters enjoy the park near Baffins Pond with its huge slide that they like to zoom down time and time again (and often encourage me to have a go).

There is also the park near Canoe Lake. It has a sandpit my daughters like to get messy in, plus a water area they can splash around in, as well having lots of fun on the zip wire.

They also enjoy the facilities at College Park, Copnor, where they can go on the slides and swings, as well as visiting the pet area with its rabbits, guinea pigs and exotic birds. There’s all this fun in Portsmouth and it’s free.
