Back in 1993 mums everywhere in Britain found themselves on a scavenger hunt around the home for the likes of washing up bottles and empty egg boxes for their offspring as a re-run of Thunderbirds fever gripped the imagination of a new generation of children.

In the run-up to Christmas that year shops sold out of the Tracy Island model.

So, savvy bosses at Blue Peter cleverly designed a model you could make yourself. And millions did just that.

Now, 20 years on, the TV classic is set to return to our screens again next year.

I hope this time the toy manufacturers get it right in time for Christmas.

However, making it yourself out of sticky backed plastic seems a whole lot more fun to me.
