The Tour de France is possibly the best sporting occasion in the world and I’m very glad to see it return to our TV screens.
It’s addictive and I urge anyone who has not yet partaken of this particular delight to tune in and be amazed at the stamina (and thighs) of the competitors. They’re awesome.
Oh, and the crashes they have are compelling too.
But the best thing about it is the fact that the commentators take the time to explain the intricacies of the various competitions within the competition and give novices a chance to keep up with the scoring.
This is unlike so many other sports that assume a certain level of knowledge. The Tour de France is definitely a television tour de force.
