Town needs fewer places to shop and more things to do

VERITY LUSH: Yet another example of distasteful American influence sweeping the UK

Have your say

As yet another supermarket takes shape in Gosport, I can’t help thinking the town needs fewer stores and more things to actually do.

There’s certainly no shortage of choice – Morrisons, Waitrose, Asda and Tesco are all represented, plus there are more branches of the Co-op than you can shake a stick at. No-one likes grocery shopping enough to do the rounds.

But what we’re sorely lacking is a cinema. You need to travel to Fareham or Portsmouth to see the latest release and that’s not good enough for a town our size.

The new Holbrook leisure development was the ideal location for a cinema, so it’s a shame we’re getting a hotel.

Come on Vue, spot the potential for a bit of popcorn-selling in Gosport soon please.
