I knew 2016 was going to be a year of change, but I didn’t know it was going to be quite so hectic.
To get you up to speed, we sold our house in Portsmouth during an open day just before Christmas.
Last Wednesday we had a phone call to say our buyer had now found another property, so naturally we put it back on the market.
By Saturday morning we had accepted another offer – the asking price again – but the deal was we had to be out by the end of March.
Can you see the predicament here? Apart from the small fact of not having anywhere else to live as of next month, we’ve had real difficulty finding somewhere that can be our ‘forever home’.
Matt went away on a lads’ weekend to Butlins knowing the house was up for sale – by the time he returned on Monday morning I had sold it again, put an offer in on another one (oops) and booked and started organising our one-year wedding anniversary party in May.
I think he was more than a little shocked by what had happened during his three-day absence, but at least I’d made progress.
Our offer – or should I say my offer – was accepted and I was thrilled.
So was Matt, as he’d actually seen the house once before.
But we’ve just found out someone who viewed the property a few weeks ago has now come in with a higher offer – £7,000 more – and the sellers have accepted that despite having already accepted ours!
Aarrgghhh…it’s so stressful selling and buying houses.
I thought people were joking when they said moving is one of the most stressful things you can do.
No kidding! I swear I have more grey hairs than I did a few weeks ago and as I’m now 33 this is not good news.
Still, I’m throwing myself into organising our first anniversary party and Operation Get Back In The Dress is well under way.
I may not have anywhere to live soon, but I’ll throw one heck of a party!
Well done George - now let’s forget about it and move on
If you watched last year’s I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here, you’d have seen how close Union J’s George Shelley got to TOWIE star Ferne McCann.
They’ve reportedly spent a lot of time together since then and have been pictured cuddling and generally being affectionate.
This week Ferne took to Twitter to support George as he published a YouTube video revealing that he had had boyfriends and girlfriends (although he didn’t use the word bisexual).
Fair enough. I fully respect anyone, especially celebrities who are role models and under intense scrutiny, who refuses to deny or hide a part of them. Why should they?
Well done George. Now let’s hope everyone just forgets about it, because in all honesty it’s no big deal.
Hold on, there’s a long way to go before a christening party
DJ Funkenstein has been in charge of music at several family events – including ours and my sisters’ wedding receptions and my 30th birthday party.
He’s doing my brother-in-law’s upcoming ’90s birthday party and now we’ve booked him to provide the tunes again for our first wedding anniversary party.
When I rang him up this week to confirm, he said: ‘Well, I am the Gibbs family DJ’.
I said ‘I know’ and he replied: ‘So does the whole of Portsmouth, Cheryl’.
Well, I can’t be accused of not being loyal now, can I?
He did also say that he thought the next time he would be DJing for me would be at our baby’s christening party.
Steady on, old boy. There’s a long way to go yet...
