So, Amy Winehouse has joined the ‘forever 27’ club with other troubled singers including Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix and others.

I played her songs a lot on the radio. She had a unique and beautiful voice and was a brilliant songwriter.

Sadly, we have lost a true great that we had not yet seen the best of. Amy was adored by fans, not only here but in the States where her genius was also acknowledged.

I have to admit I had got a bit fed up of seeing less-than-flattering pictures of her all the time though. Radio loved her records, but the press loved to chronicle what she got up to in her personal life.

I just wish she could have got her life together again. Now it’s too late.
