Is there such a thing as the perfect day?

Without a cloud in the sky and in front of our dearest friends and family, last weekend Matt and I said ‘I do.’

I don’t really know how to describe what kind of day we had, because in all honesty it was all a bit of a whirlwind.

I’d felt quite nervous in the run-up to the wedding and on Friday night just felt a bit, for want of a better word, weird.

But come Saturday I really did feel fine and I was rather calm the entire morning as I got ready, even though it was manically hectic with people nipping in and out all morning and a million decisions that needed to be made.

But I was relaxed – that was until it came to walking down the aisle and seeing Matt waiting for me in his dark blue suit with pink bow tie looking handsomely dapper.

My heart just melted.

As I walked towards Matt, seeing our family and friends there, my nan and Matt’s nan and all the others, I felt like the most blessed person on the planet.

It was made all the more emotional when I clocked my Auntie Sharon’s mum, June – aka my no 1 fan.

She was invited to attend the whole day, but because of ill health told me she couldn’t come to any of it.

Yet on the day there she was, just like the trouper she is, waiting to see me on my big day.

At that moment, I’m afraid I completely lost it.

As I walked towards Matt, seeing our family and friends there, my nan and Matt’s nan and all the others, I felt like the most blessed person on the planet.

When I approached Matt and saw tears in his eyes, well that was it really.

I was gone and the rest of the day is pretty much a blur, other than knowing I had a feeling of total happiness as I waltzed around Southend Barns near Chichester feeling like a princess in a fairytale.

We deliberately used local companies for all aspects of the wedding and they did an amazing job.

From the delicious catering provided by Field and Fork and the five-tiered wedding cake by Final Touch Cakes, to Premier White Cars who gave us two white Rolls Royce Phantoms instead of one and the fireworks display by Selstgar, it was a dream day and one I shall treasure forever.
