I would like to thank those of you who got in touch with me about my column last week and the need to keep the bees happy.
It seems the little critters are doing marvellously in and around Portsmouth, flying from garden to garden, pollinating our plants and helping our ecosystem survive.
I’d also like to thank those of you who gave me gardening advice. It seems that if I want bees (and presumably some excellent-tasting honey) I should plant some lavender.
Having looked into it, I think even I might be able to grow some lavender without killing it within a fortnight.
Not only that, but I could use it to help me sleep deeply at night, fragrance my rooms, and sweeten the air in my North End garden.
So thanks very much for the tip.
