For just £25 I popped across the Channel to Calais at the weekend to stock up.
When boarding P&O’s massive new ferry the Spirit of France (one of two new ships on the route), I noticed a familiar shape – LD Lines’ Norman Spirit.
Now running on the lucrative Calais hop, LD is trying to pick up some of the traffic from the demise of Seafrance, liquidated by the French government.
But that means LD’s Portsmouth service is left with the freight ship Norman Voyager. Does that fill customers with confidence in the company’s commitment?
With two large P&O ships now replaced and out of service, why not put them to work sailing out of Portsmouth?
