Remembrance Sunday is tomorrow and the service at the Guildhall is always an emotional and gracious reminder of the men and women who have given/give so much.
I worked alongside the forces for seven years, in salubrious locations such as Bosnia, Croatia, Kosovo and the Falkland Islands.
I’d ask my serving muckers for their thoughts on Remembrance Day and they were always humbled by the appreciation given by us, the general public – our support genuinely makes a difference.
Although they were always quick to point out ‘the whole poppy thing is a nice idea, but I’d rather someone dragged me into a pub and bought me a thank you pint.’
Why not do both?
