Why should we pay extra for wanting our pasties hot?

STEVE CANAVAN: Take note of why I love this country so much

Have your say

I find it scandalous that David Cameron is putting VAT on our humble sausage rolls and pasties if we want to eat them hot.

Whatever next? Penalties if we want salt and vinegar on chips?

I worked for many years at Soothills bakery in Fareham, so have an insight into how hard small bakeries must work to earn a crust. Excuse the pun.

Is it the case that the Prime Minister had noticed just how many branches of Greggs there are in this country and decided to cash in?

Or is it that he was concerned about us getting overweight and wants us all to eat like rabbits?

It all seems a bit flaky to me.

Maybe he will soon make a shock announcement and say he’s been telling pork-ies!
