The lights give a long wait at red, then only 15-seconds at green. Vehicles and motorists often have to wait two changes, causing anger and delays for drivers.

THE owner of a fish and chip shop battled to put out flames when an extractor fan caught fire.

A blaze broke out at Crinkles in Locksway Road, Milton, at 4.30pm today.

Firefighters were called to the shop after the owner battled in vain to put out the fire and smoke.

The crew were able to deal with it quickly but the chip shop will not reopen tonight.
