GRABBING jars of pickled eggs, tubes of Pringles and a giant frozen turkey, the stars of this year’s Fareham panto took part in a supermarket sweep for charity.
Actor John Altman, best know for playing nasty Nick Cotton in Eastenders, who plays Fleshcreep in the panto, was joined by Dame Trott, played by actor Mark Siney, to complete the one minute trolley dash at Tesco’s supermarket in Whiteley.
Together the duo managed to snatch an impressive £235.71 worth of groceries, which will be raffled off for Diabetes UK, Tesco’s chosen charity of the year.
Jackie Maffin, from the store, said: ‘The actors were all for it. It is so nice to see them here and hopefully we can raise lots of money for our chosen charity.’
John Altman said: ‘It was amazing how quickly a minute goes. We managed to fill the trolley, which is incredible, there’s drinks, a turkey, chocolates, Pringles and loads of other stuff.’
Dame Trott said: ‘With my old legs it took me a little while to get round but I think we got everything give a family something nice for Christmas and it was for a charity.’
The Ferneham Hall panto, Jack in the Beanstalk, is on until January 5.
The trolley winner was due to be drawn on Christmas Eve at the supermarket.
