A POLICE chief has warned partygoers not to take chances with their safety this Christmas.
Superintendent Darren O’Callaghan is encouraging people to take simple precautions – such as arranging for a lift back home after a night out or nominating a designated driver – to ensure they do not put themselves at risk.
The message comes as thousands prepare to descend on Portsmouth’s pubs and clubs for what promises to be one of the busiest times of the year for licensed venues.
Supt O’Callaghan said: ‘Many of you will be out celebrating in pubs and clubs over Christmas and New Year, please take the time to think about your own safety. It’s also important to keep an eye on your property, don’t flash your mobile in public advertising it to thieves.’
