PENNY Mordaunt made a fresh appearance on primetime TV for the final of celebrity diving show Splash!

The Portsmouth North MP was voted off last month. But this was not before she had completed a backward dive from the 7.5m board on national television.

Speaking of her experience, Ms Mordaunt quipped: ‘Physically I have recovered, emotionally I’m not sure I ever will, but thank you. Everyone’s been so nice. I’ve had lots of cards at the House of Commons, it’s very kind of everyone.’

Asked by presenter Gabby Logan if the Prime Minster had been in touch, she added: ‘He needed to know that our majority was OK but once he was reassured of that he was off.’

Ms Mordaunt raised £10,000 for good causes by appearing on the show. A total of £7,000 has been donated to The Hilsea Lido Pool for the People to install new diving boards.

Dance group Diversity’s Perri Kiely was crowned the series two winner of Tom Daley’s diving competition.
