THE swimsuit which Penny Mordaunt wore for Splash! is being put up for auction.
The Portsmouth North MP’s red sparkly outfit will be sold at a major charity fundraiser in London at a later date.
Proceeds will go to a worthy cause.
Penny performed on the ITV diving programme on Saturday, but failed to make it to the semi-finals.
She attempted a back dive straight, a challenging dive which had never been done on the programme before.
Talking about why she’s agreed to let go of her swimsuit, Penny said: ‘It’s not Pompey blue. But also, the whole point of doing this was to raise as much money for charity as possible.
‘I have had lots of compliments on my swimsuit, but it’s not something I would wear on holiday.
‘If someone wants to have it and are willing to pay a bit of money for it, let them have it.’
Penny’s £10,000 appearance fee will go to Hilsea Lido Pool for the People Trust, which runs Hilsea Lido, once she fulfils her commitment to ITV and appears on the final show on February 15.
Olympic diving medallist Tom Daley, the Splash! celebrities’ expert mentor is due to be visiting the lido.
