AN ELDERLY woman is recovering in hospital after being reversed over by a delivery truck.

The 84-year-old was hit by a 13-tonne lorry on the High Street, Selsey. The woman suffered serious injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

A 23-year-old woman, from Berkshire, suffered minor injuries as she gave the pensioner first aid at the scene.

The pensioner, from Selsey, was flown by air ambulance to Southampton General Hospital following the incident at midday on Tuesday.

A Selsey woman, who did not want to be named, said: ‘I heard screams, but didn’t actually see it happen.

‘It’s a horrible thing to happen. I hope she’s okay.’
