PEOPLE are being reminded to take extra care on Friday as another firefighters’ strike takes place.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service’s resources will be depleted by industrial action on January 3 from 6.30am to 8.30am.

Members of the Fire Brigades Union will be on strike as part of a dispute over pensions and retirement age.

The service says it is reassuring the public emergency calls will still be answered and responded to, but that response times will be hit by the strikes.

Assistant chief officer Neil Odin said: ‘If you are drinking, then please don’t think about driving but grab a cab instead.

‘Also keep an eye on your cooking. I want to reassure the public if they call 999 during the strike hours, we will still respond. However the response may have to come from further away and therefore may take longer.’
