BOOKWORMS turned out in force to celebrate World Book Day.
The Book Shop at Lee-on-the-Solent was one retailer which kept its doors open late for the event.
Book Shop owner Rick Barter said scores of keen readers filled the shop to talk about their favourite works.
Mr Barter said 10 authors were also there to meet the public alongside representatives from two publishing houses, including Gosport-based Chaplin Books.
He said: ‘It was a really great literary event which gave local authors the chance to meet with other authors and talk about their books.
Mr Barter said refreshments were provided by The Tea Party, which is next door to The Book Shop on the High Street.
‘The food and drink was absolutely superb.’
World Book Day is organised by Unesco to promote reading, publishing and copyright.
