POOR weather earlier in the year couldn’t prevent the green-fingered folk of Wallington putting on a top quality show.

The village’s gardening club held its annual show, which featured dozens of entries across 45 classes, at Wallington Village Hall in Broadcut, near Fareham.

John Wilcox, chairman of the Wallington Gardening Club, said: ‘We were somewhat lower on entries on the vegetable side this year, but it’s been a very difficult year.

‘We are probably a month, six weeks behind where we should be.

‘But it went well, and Gez Bodey scooped the pile with his entries – much to my annoyance!’

The club meets on the fourth Thursday of the month at the hall from 7.30pm. The evening features a guest speaker and tea and biscuits. Call Mr Wilcox for more information on 01329 238136.
