COMMUNITY groups have been invited to bid on a share of £65,000 from Comic Relief.

As Red Nose Day will soon return, the charity is giving away grants of between £500 and £1,000 to small organisations that are doing great work to help local people living tough lives.

Applications are open now, with Hampshire and the Isle of Wight Community Foundation working with Comic Relief to get the cash to the groups that need it most.

In 2013, £50,000 was given away to good causes across the area.

Meanwhile, this year the public are being asked to make their faces ‘funny for money’ for Red Nose Day on Friday, March 13.

The charity is urging people across the south to paint their faces, wear a Red Nose or grow a sponsored comb-over to raise life-changing cash for vulnerable people all over the UK and across Africa.

Interested groups wanting to apply for a share of the Comic Relief funding should go to bit.ly/1zWHnBW or rednoseday.com.
