MUSICIAN Jim Birmingham was treated like pop royalty when he was invited on to a chat show after writing a song about the hosts.

Arnold, also known as comedian Arnold Gutbucket, penned the tune Mel and Sue – That’s What My Telly Is For.

Jim, from Lovedean sent the tune to the ITV daytime show of Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins.

The duo were so impressed with the song they asked Jim to be in one of the final episodes of the series.

And the song was so popular with the audience he is releasing it to raise money for Comic Relief.

He said: ‘I like writing songs for fun, that’s what I do.

‘I came up with this one and thought I’d send it in and see what happens.

‘They got in touch and asked me to come on.

‘It was brilliant. They really made a fuss of me.

‘There were people in the audience wearing Jim Birmingham scarves, making out I was a pop star.

‘They were taking the mickey but it was really good fun.’

Jim performed the song and hosted a quiz between a boy band called The Vamps and actor and comedian Rufus Hound.

Jim will give the profits to Comic Relief.
