ASTRONAUT Tim Peake has been honoured by the Queen.

Maj Peake, who grew up in Westbourne, near Emsworth, was made a Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George by the Queen.

It was in recognition of his work during the 170 days he spent on the International Space Station earlier this year.

Maj Peake, who attended the University of Portsmouth, said his time in space had ‘made him realise we have the most beautiful planet and we need to love each other’.
