THE mayor and mayoress of Fareham are inviting councillors and members of the public to join them for an evening of fun to raise money for charity.

Councillor Mike Ford and his wife Anne are organising the event in support of the Dave Wellman Cancer Trust and the Gosport & Fareham Inshore Rescue Service.

The Dave Wellman Cancer Trust was established in 1999 and raises funds to help beat cancer and to help support relatives and friends of sufferers.

The Gosport & Fareham Inshore Rescue Service known locally as Gafirs, is an independent search and rescue facility covering the Solent and Portsmouth Harbour.

All of the crew are volunteers and give their time to help others in distress in, on or near water.

The ball takes place on Friday at 7.30pm. Tickets are £45 per head with a three course dinner.

To book please call 01329 824303.
