MUSICIANS are to take to the stage at the Wedgewood Rooms as the popular Big Blue Gig returns for a third time.
The fundraiser at the venue in Albert Road, Southsea, is being organised for Blue Day, which raises money for the Tom Prince Cancer Trust.
The concert will take place on the evening of Blue Day itself – Friday, May 2.
The line-up for the night includes local acts Night of Treason, The Targets and Andy Muscat.
Geoff Priestley is the general manager of the Wedgewood Rooms and is looking forward to lending his support.
He said: ‘It appears to have become an annual event for us.
‘It’s a good charity.
‘They are quite close to reaching their target and I would like to help them do that.
‘It’s been very good in the past. It’s nice to see so many people coming out and having a good time for a good cause.
‘I like the charity because a lot of their fundraising is music-based so it ties in with what we do.
‘For a charity that’s set itself quite a large target and to nearly get to it is a great thing.
‘We should all put our hands in our pockets and help them get to it.’
On Blue Day, people across the city are encouraged to dress in blue and take part in blue-themed activities to raise much-needed cash for the charity.

Tom Prince’s dad Clinton added: ‘For Geoff Priestley to be doing the Big Blue Gig again is absolutely superb.
‘It’s fantastic. It was such a success last year.
‘Apart from raising money for a very good cause, you are having fun and enjoying yourself.
‘It’s nice to bring it round again.
‘I love live music.’
The charity was started in memory of Tom.
The teenager, from Southsea, died from rare bone cancer osteosarcoma a day before he had been due to celebrate his 16th birthday.
His family decided to start the trust in his name and have since organised Blue Day with The News since 2008 – the year Pompey won the FA Cup.
The family are aiming to raise a total of £1m into research.
So far, trust has raised a staggering £855,000.
About £213,000 of that total has been raised from fundraisers held and donations made on the previous seven Blue Days.
Tickets to the Big Blue Gig cost £7 each.
