ANIMAL-LOVING twins asked their friends to give them money instead of presents for their birthday so they could give it to an RSPCA shelter.

Holly and Sammy Fagan gave the Stubbington Ark the £235 they collected for their 11th birthday. Although they live near Christchurch in Dorset, they decided to donate the cash to the Ark because it is where their grandparents got their dog Buddy four years ago.

Sammy said: ‘We wanted to do something to make sure the animals could have a chance for a better life.’

Vanessa Eden, head of fundraising at the shelter, said: ‘I feel very humbled by their kind gesture.’
