FAREHAM’S finest gardeners have been showing what they can do during a tour of the borough by the regional Britain in Bloom judges.

And they will be hoping to equal last year’s triumph when they took the gold for the large town / small city category and the overall champions of champions.

Volunteers Bridget and Geoff Thickett hosted a garden party at their home in Pine Walk, Sarisbury, for the end of the tour.

Mr Thickett, 67, said: ‘We were very pleased with how well it went – we were getting some good feedback. We hope we’ll achieve our goal of getting a gold.’

The results for South and South East in Bloom will be announced early next month.
