IT HAS taken 3,500 hours for volunteers to restore this 1911 Steam Pinnace 199 boat so far.
The restoration works are continuing at the Maritime Workshop behind St Vincent College in Mill Lane, Gosport, since starting in March last year.
On Saturday the steam boat – which served in the First World War – was open for the public to view with volunteers on hand to explain its history and their work.
The team behind the restoration, which is being done to prevent decay – needs a further £11,000 to continue with its task, on top of the £86,500 already raised.
The National Museum of the Royal Navy received £50,000 last year from the Heritage Lottery Fund to get the work started.
