BRITISH astronaut Tim Peake arrived back in the UK this morning after flying in from Texas.

Major Peake, from Westbourne, touched down at Heathrow airport after spending six months on the International Space Station.

He was met at the airport with a picture of himself as Heathrow unveiled its marketing campaign with posters featuring iconic British individuals.

Major Peake posted a photo of himself standing in front of his Heathrow picture on Twitter, with the message: ‘Great to be back in the UK this morning - saw someone who looked familiar at #Heathrow!’

After his six-month mission on the ISS, Major Peake, a former University of Portsmouth student, has been taking part in tests in Houston.
