JOANNE Murchie had a high-flying career as director of sales with Warner Bros but gave it up when she had children.
The mum-of-two, from Gosport, retrained as a CV and careers consultant and set up her own business, CV Essentials, which took off and in February this year she launched Military CV services.
She offers heavily discounted services to those in the military and their families, and has recently been appointed the official CV writer for the Recruit for Spouses employment agency.
Her achievement, in such a short space of time, saw her walk away with the Success Story of the Year award at The News Women of the Year Awards.
Joanne said: ‘I’m just so proud. I can’t believe it.
‘It’s so exciting.
‘When I gave up my career to have my children, never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d be running my own business.
‘It took a really big leap of faith.
‘I hope this award will show other mums there is a choice out there. You can do it.
‘I’m primarily still a stay-at-home mum. My children are three and five years-old.
‘Also, it’s great to have been recognised for the work I have done with the military. I hope it will raise a bit of awareness that people coming out of the military into the civilian workplace do need additional help.’
Haley Storey from AboutMyArea was highly commended.
