PORTSMOUTH Sea Cadets have been perfecting their boatwork skills in Portsmouth Harbour.

More than 70 cadets and 30 adult instructors, all volunteers, from the eight districts in the southern area, spent from Sunday to Friday at HMS Excellent, taking part in a wide variety of water-based courses.

Young people aged between 12 and 18 years old took part in activities and courses including sailing, power boating and rowing.

Lieutenant Commander Phil Coast (SCC) RNR, area training officer, said: ‘Boatwork week is fabulous opportunity for sea cadets to gain and improve their boat work skills in the safe waters of Portsmouth harbour. The cadets enjoy getting together from across the area and there is no substitute for having quality time on the water practising their skills.’
